Fire Pump Inspection
The fire pump is considered to be the heart of the Fire Protection system. Inspections are to make sure the fire pump assembly is free of damage and operates as it’s designed to. When conducting a fire pump inspection we check for proper heating and ventilation, valves, gauge readings, electrical system conditions, fuel and oil levels. We also check for proper voltage, amperage, and RPMs.
Fire Pump Testing
Fire Pump Flow and No- Flow Test is completed during fire pump testing. Depending on the fire pump system a weekly or a monthly test may be required, making sure the pump operates properly without flowing water and can automatically start. A fire pump flow test is required annually and verifies the pumps performance during different conditions.
In occurrence of a fire it is imperative that firefighters have access to working hydrants. During a fire hydrant inspection we at District Fire Protection make sure your hydrants are in operative functional order. During a hydrant inspection, we clear hydrants of debris and check water for sufficient pressure and operate stem through its full range of motion to prevent seizing.
Backflow preventer‘s are a very intricate part of the fire sprinkler system and should be inspected annually. They eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination by preventing pollution to flow into the municipal water line.

Depending on your business’ fire hazard protection needs, there are different versions of fire sprinkler systems (Deluge System, Pre-action System etc.). These systems will need to be inspected per NFPA standard on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi annual or annual basis. Sprinkler systems protect commercial and residential facilities by releasing water to eliminate the threat of a fire, that may result in damage, serious injury or death.
A fire hose inspection is very important because the hose operates under pressure from the flow of water. If a fire hose is broken, damaged, or not properly maintained, this may result in a non-functional fire hose during an emergency situation.
When conducting a visual fire extinguisher inspection we must make sure it is not blocked or obstructed and is in plain view, instruction labeling is clear, and also has easy access.
